Main features:

users of these cards have access only to the funds transferred into their current bank account. An exception – the bank can grant an overdraft to users of these cards;
there is a large number of cards of this type in Latvia (available to anybody).

Credit cards

Main features:

banks set a credit limit for credit cards and card users mainly use this credit limit;
these cards are more prestigious; for they are issued to clients with high and stable income;
wider possibilities of use;
less credit cards than debit cards have been issued in Latvia.
