My story is the following – I am a third year student, going home from the capital on a dark and late winter evening. I have 28 lats and some santims, my student card, transport card, visit cards, bank card and some other cards in my wallet. In the subway near the Central Station I felt that something touched my bag. I had a look and everything seemed all right. Then I felt a touch once again and I saw that the bag was open and the wallet with its contents was stolen from it.
Then I started crying about my foolishness and stupidity in a loud voice.
Luckily, I knew about the Lattelekom service 116: they connect you to any phone number in Latvia upon deferred payment. My good relatives in Riga gave me a shelter, fed me and gave me a fiver. I called the bank and the card was blocked immediately. Later, when I was completing the application to the bank, I was informed that somebody has tried to use the card for payments.
Some time later, around Christmas, when all the cards and certificates were renewed, my wallet appeared at my place of residence.
After this event, I’ve become very cautious and sometimes put my wallet so that even I can’t get it when I need it.
