The main advantage of payment cards is that I don’t need to take a wallet full with cash with me when I go abroad. It is very convenient to pay with card abroad. And also in Latvia- it’s just that POS terminals sometimes don’t work. Theoretically, cards can be stolen. It has never happened to me because I look after my wallet. And there is less trouble if a card is stolen than if cash is stolen.
I can suggest getting a card also for children. I’ve got cards for my children. My son is singing in a boys’ quire and he often goes to camps or abroad – then it is very convenient to transfer money to his bank account. Boys sometimes spend all their money and I don’t know how else I could send him some money if he hadn’t the card.
In our family, my wife is responsible for all the financial issues. She makes all payments through the Internet bank. I myself don't use it, but it is very convenient. She pays loan payments, pays bills on public utilities and other bills only through the Internet bank.
