First Data Latvia 

First Data Latvia is the leading company for payment card data processing services in Latvia and Baltic States. The company was the first multiple-bank owned payment card data processing centre in Latvia and started operations in 1992. The company has been certified to process transactions for the world's foremost payment card networks: Europay/MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Diners Club. Besides these international cards First Data Latvia operates proprietary cards for several local banks and fuel companies such as Shell and Neste.

The main operations of the company are issuing processing, acquiring processing, clearing and settlement with domestic and international banks and payment schemes. Additional operations include the maintenance of acquiring network devices ( POS terminals), transaction monitoring and personalisation services.

First Data Latvia attends all commercial banks in Latvia, which issue payment cards. The philosophy of First Data Latvia is to work in close co-operation with the banks to ensure payment card users with the possibility of full employment of new technologies and to promote maximum return on the banks' investments.

Most banks fully outsourced payment card processing and related services from First Data Latvia. On behalf of banks the company also services key merchants in Latvia in terms of POS terminal installation and maintenance. For some banks the company also operates a card management system for both physical and virtual payment cards.

The high technological level and professionalism of employees in our company allow us to run large projects and First Data Latvia was the first payment card-processing centre in the Baltics to entirely prepare its card processing systems for the issuing and acquiring of chip cards.

This year First Data Latvia has started two important projects - payment authentication through 3 D Secure and EMV smart card personalisation centre. Implementation of 3 D Secure will stimulate banks and merchants participation in e-commerce. First Data Latvia implements these e-commerce technological solutions to ensure reliable and secure Internet payments for banks, merchants and cardholders.

First Data Latvia processes more than 1 300 000 cards (international and local debit and credit cards) per month and over 4 million issuing and acquiring authorisations.
